What we build

Durable systems for serious operations.

We move organizations from manual, fragile process into calm, purpose-built software — and we stay to run it. Practical work, done well, for the long term.

01

Custom Operating Platforms

Business-specific systems for records, workflows, scheduling, reporting, communication, and daily operations.

02

Workflow Modernization

Replacing spreadsheets, inbox processes, paper forms, and fragile manual steps with structured, reliable software.

03

Portals & Internal Tools

Administrative portals, student / client / staff portals, dashboards, and permissioned workflows.

04

Reporting & Compliance Support

Systems that help organizations track the records, hours, statuses, and documentation they're responsible for managing.

05

Practical AI & Automation

AI and automation applied carefully inside real workflows — with human review, cost awareness, and operational guardrails.

06

Technology Operations

Deployment, hosting, maintenance, monitoring, improvement, and long-term system stewardship after launch.

Who we serve

For organizations where the workflow matters.

Horizon Works is best suited to businesses whose operations have become too specific, too important, or too complex for generic tools — where spreadsheets multiply, inboxes become workflows, and staff quietly invent workarounds just to keep the business moving.

Licensed & Clock-Hour Schools

State-licensed and clock-hour programs juggling cohort schedules, attendance, course hours, transcripts, compliance-oriented recordkeeping, and a student-facing portal.

Owner-Led Service Businesses

Scheduling, staff coordination, client operations, reporting, payments, forms, and back-office visibility across locations.

Process-Heavy Teams

Approvals, documentation, records, handoffs, exception tracking, and audit-friendly workflows where traceability matters.

Businesses Outgrowing Spreadsheets

When the spreadsheet has quietly become the system, we help replace it with something durable.

Case study

A custom student information & operations platform for a state-licensed North Carolina massage therapy school.

NC Massage School needed more than a generic school portal. As a state-licensed North Carolina massage therapy school, it operates within a clock-hour education model shaped by Board rules, school policies, attendance requirements, course-hour tracking, student records, transcripts, and compliance-oriented documentation. The work is too specific, too regulated, and too important to manage cleanly through disconnected tools, spreadsheets, and manual workarounds.

Horizon Works designed ATLAS as a custom student information and operations platform built around the school's actual operating model. It supports administrative workflows — enrollment, student records, cohort scheduling, attendance and course-hour tracking, grading, transcript support, student finance, communications, and reporting — and it is also a student-facing portal, giving students a clearer way to engage with their school experience, track progress, receive communication, and access their records.

Built for school operations. Designed for student success.

By connecting school operations with the student experience, ATLAS creates a transparent, organized, and supportive environment where administrators can manage with confidence and students can succeed with clarity.

For students, ATLAS serves as a personalized success portal. Students can view their attendance, monitor grades, track completed and remaining program hours, see upcoming exams and assignments, receive important announcements, access school documents, and stay informed about their progress toward graduation. Instead of wondering where they stand, students have real-time visibility into their academic journey — helping them stay engaged, accountable, and focused on their goals.

The challenge

NC Massage School operates in a regulated, clock-hour education environment — managing students, schedules, attendance, course hours, grades, transcripts, communications, payments, and documentation while staying attentive to North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy rules, policies, and evolving expectations. Generic school software didn't fully match how the school actually works, and disconnected tools made it harder to maintain a clear operating picture.

The approach

We started with the school's operating reality: how students move through the program, how clock hours are earned, how attendance must be tracked, how courses map to required hours, how staff manage records, and how students need access to their own information. The platform was designed around both administrative accountability and the student experience.

The system

ATLAS brings administrative tools and student-facing portal functions into one custom platform — supporting admissions and enrollment, student records, cohort scheduling, attendance and course-hour tracking, grading, transcript support, student finance, documents, communications, reporting, and visibility for students as they move through the program.

The result

A clearer, more structured operating foundation. Administrators gain better tools for managing student records, schedules, attendance, documentation, and reporting. Students gain a more transparent portal for engaging with their program, tracking progress, and staying connected to the school. ATLAS does not replace regulatory judgment or Board review — it gives the school a stronger foundation for the records and workflows that matter.

  • Clock-hour & attendance tracking
  • Compliance-oriented recordkeeping
  • Student portal experience
  • Grades & transcript support
  • Communications & documents
  • Student finance support
  • Reporting & visibility

What it demonstrates

ATLAS shows how Horizon Works approaches custom software: by understanding the full operating environment — the institution's responsibilities, the staff's daily workflow, the student's experience, and the rules and records that shape the business. We translate regulatory and administrative complexity into a practical software model, and build tools that serve both the organization and the people who rely on it every day. It's a working example of what we build, not a mass-market product.

Our approach

We start with the work, not the software.

We don't start with technology theater. We start by understanding how the work actually happens — including the exceptions, workarounds, bottlenecks, and quiet dependencies.

01

Listen to the operation

We learn how the business actually runs — the exceptions, workarounds, bottlenecks, and quiet dependencies.

02

Map the process

We turn operational knowledge into workflows, data models, roles, permissions, records, and decisions.

03

Build the right system

We design and develop practical software around the business reality, not around generic assumptions.

04

Launch carefully

We prioritize stability, clarity, and adoption, so the system becomes genuinely useful in daily work.

05

Operate & improve

We continue refining the system as the business learns, grows, and changes over time.

Built by operators

Built by operators, not just developers.

Horizon Works is part of QLD Holdings LLC, an operating company with firsthand experience across education, service businesses, real estate, land operations, and management consulting. That background shapes how we build software.

We understand that the hardest part of technology is rarely the code alone. It's the messy middle where people, process, records, compliance, judgment, and daily pressure meet.

We build for the people who have to run the process after the demo is over.
